Saltwater is a collection of paintings developed over several years in response to the Western Australian coastline. Ocean-based works have become Jane’s most sought-after commissions – most likely, as they are relatable to the Australian coastal lifestyle.
Characterised by broad-brush strokes, impasto oil and beeswax and a restrained colour palette, the works aim to harness the feeling of space, light and stillness.
Subtle melancholic undertones emerge throughout the artwork, often gently referencing histories past and present.
