The owners of this beautiful Margaret River farm live and work in the city. For many years they were packing the car and heading down south to stay in a cosy ramshackled old shed that had been lovingly converted into living quarters.
The shed proved to be very hot in the summer months and it started to lose appeal for the couple’s two teenage girls. A new holiday home was needed to lure the girls and their friends back to the farm.
The owners requested only a basic concept design. They chose all of their own materials both inside and out and opted for standard domestic height doors/windows in order to keep costs low. They successfully stuck to their budget by doing much of the groundwork themselves.
The result is a very comfortable solar passive home with separate sleeping zones either end of a central living/kitchen/dining space. A large scullery is one of the homes highlights - perfect for the farms amazing produce!
